Coles Bay is a seaside village located 190 kilometres north of Hobart on the east coast of Tasmania. Travelling by car, from Hobart, it’ll take you just 2 ½ hours to get there.
It lies on the sheltered shores of Great Oyster Bay and is adjacent to the Freycinet National Park which contains the world famous Wine Glass Bay.
Europeans were attracted to the area originally for whaling, tin and coal mining as well as farming.
The natural beauty of the area was recognised when in 1916 it became one of the first Tasmanian national parks.
